Next Generation Biomedical
Next Generation Biomedical, a start-up enterprise of Fayetteville State University, is developing a wound treatment device to facilitate wound recovery and improve patient wellbeing while reducing costs. The device provides hydration, electrolyte and maintains the pH balance of the wound site. Due to high water retention of the gel, the device can stay in place far longer than traditional bandages and, when changed, does not adhere to the wound. Reduction in the number of bandage changes reduces nursing time and costs. The device allows for topical delivery of antiseptics to prevent/ reduce infection and the delivery of topical analgesics, reducing the need of other drugs.
